New Italian-built electric press brakes

New Italian-built electric press brakesEuromac, the manufacturer of metal-forming and fabrication equipment, has introduced a new range of compact electric press brakes.

Available in the UK from Cheltenham-based Cotswold Machinery Sales Ltd (www.cotswold-machinery-sales.co.uk), FXbend machines use direct drives coupled to short-stroke ballscrews that remain in tension as they pull the forming beam.

This drive system allows the beam to quickly reach its top speed of 200mm/sec and to decelerate to its forming speed in a distance of just 2mm.

The main framework is constructed from two interconnecting Meehanite monoblocks for optimised stability and bending precision. Moreover, the machine has been designed to accommodate bends up to the maximum table length and to allow tools to be easily removed from the side.

The machine can be specified with bending lengths of 850 or 1,300mm, with maximum bending forces of 200 and 400kN respectively.

Back-gauges with two, four or six axes are available. With two axes, Z1 and Z2 are manually moveable. With four axes, X, R, Z1 and Z2 movements are automatic and programmable. With six axes, the X1, X2, R1, R2, Z1 and Z2 movements are automatic and independent.

Moreover, carbon-fibre elements reduce the weight of the back-gauge fingers and allow movement speeds of 1,000mm/sec to be achieved.

There are two choices of brake guarding from Lazer Safe. The use of an LZS Dual Laser system allows operators to work close to the tools, even as the ram and back-gauge move at high speed.

The maximum ram speed can be held to within 6mm of the part.

The combination of LZS-005 Block Laser and digital camera allows the change-of-speed point to be within 2mm of the part.
