Londonderry-based engineering firm SJC Hutchinson Engineering (
www.hutchinson-engineering.co.uk) has invested £3.2 million in a 60,000sq ft expansion, made necessary by the company’s steady growth since diversifying into the aerospace sector (it launched Hutchinson AeroTech in 2013).
Opening the company’s new site in Kilrea, managing director Mark Hutchinson said: “With over 40 years’ experience of working with clients who demand quality and precision-engineered components, it was imperative that we undertook this expansion. It will help to underpin our competitive position in this sector and achieve the aim of substantially increasing sales to global customers over the next three years.”
The family business was founded in 1971 and now employs some 85 people; it specialises in laser cutting, folding, fabrication, kitting and design services for the aerospace sector — among others.
