Akramatic Engineering (
www.akramatic.com), a sheet metal and fabrication business in Alfreton, says that it will add to its workforce following its relocation, which was aided by a six-figure grant from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnershi (LEP).
The company recently increased its capacity by buying a larger building next door to its Nix’s Hill Industrial Estate base and moving its operations there. D2N2 provided a £125,000 grant to support the £600,000 investment through its Unlocking Investment for Growth programme.
General manager Shaun Newman said: “Our original premises were restrictive. We had issues with limited space, and our powder-coating facilities were located on the other side of a busy main road.
“We also urgently needed to increase our capacity, to be able to bring in larger equipment to produce the larger items our customers wanted, while improving our processes around materials handling.”
As a result of the move, the company will create eight jobs before next March, and half of these positions should be filled this summer.
Peter Gadsby, chairman of the D2N2 LEP investment panel, said: “Akramatic Engineering will be reaping the benefits
of having their entire operation under one roof. We are delighted that we could help to bring about this vital expansion.”
