Alstom and Bombardier are celebrating the delivery of the 100th MI09 duplex train for Line A of the Paris RER network.
This is part of a contract awarded to the Alstom-Bombardier consortium in 2009. In February 2015, STIF (the board of Ile-de-France transport authority) ordered an extra 10 trains. Each train is 110m long, made up of five cars, and can transport up to 2,600 passengers at a maximum speed of 120kph.
The MI09 also has a highly efficient electrical breaking system that reduces the energy consumption of the trains. Line A of the Paris RER transports 1.2 million passengers a day, which makes it the most heavily used regional line in Europe.
The MI09 trains currently in service on the line have already covered over 24 million km.
