MOBA UK, a specialist supplier of machine parts, has relocated its UK head office to Barnsley; it has recruited nine people to date but reckons the move could create up to 30 jobs.
The firm supplies control systems to the ‘waste logistics’ and construction industry and has doubled its UK turnover to £2.5 million in the last two years. It is now hoping to achieve annual sales of £5 million by the end of 2017.
MOBA UK (
www.moba-automation.com) has moved to new 13,000ft2 premises at Park Springs industrial estate, Grimethorpe, that are 40% larger than its previous base in Buckinghamshire, but it retains a workshop and administration centre near its former head office.
The company, which has spent £60,000 on creating bespoke workshop, office and conference facilities, plans to invest an additional £400,000 in equipment, technology and staff over the next few years.
The firm was founded in 2011 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the German group MOBA (Mobile Automation), which has operations in a dozen countries including Spain, India, Italy, China, Brazil and the USA.
Managing director Ian Lewis said the company wanted a base between Nottingham and Leeds with access to the M1 corridor in order to better serve its UK customer base.
“After looking around, we decided this modern unit in Barnsley was the perfect fit for our business and growth plans; it is 10min from the M1. We are already working with local engineering suppliers and have used local contractors to upgrade our premises.”
