MACH 2016
Leamington Spa-based Mills CNC Ltd (
www.millscnc.co.uk) will display 19 Doosan lathes, machining centres and turn-mill machines, which will include several new models (Hall 5 Stand 5430).
Beginning with Doosan lathes and turning centres, the new machines will include the Lynx 2100B, which is an 8in chuck/65mm bar capacity model equipped with a 15kW 4,500rev/min spindle.
It will be shown alongside the recently launched Lynx 220LYSC, a long-bed lathe (510mm turning length) with a 16-station turret, ±52.5mm Y axis, 15kW 5,000rev/min main spindle, 5.5kW 6,000rev/min sub-spindle and driven tools (3.7kW 6,000rev/min).
Two new Puma models will also feature. The Puma GT2100M (integrated with a Fanuc M20iA robot) is a universal box guideway turning centre with 8in chuck/65mm bar capacity and driven tools (5.5kW 5,000rev/min). Meanwhile, the Puma GT2600 box-guideway turning centre has a 10in chuck/76mm bar capacity, 658mm turning length, programmable tailstock and automatic tool-setter.
Existing turning machines being displayed by Mills CNC will include: the Puma 2600SY with sub-spindle and Y axis; the TT1800SY twin-turret twin-spindle turning centre; and the Puma 3100LY l— a large-capacity long-
bed lathe with Y-axis capability.
New Puma models at the larger end of the Doosan range will include: the Puma 4100M (a 15in chuck machine with driven tools rated at 7.5kW 4,000rev/min); and the Puma 5100LYB (a two-axis heavy-duty turning centre with a 21in chuck and 165.5mm bar capacity, as well as both C and Y axes and driven tools.
Mills CNC will also be showing three Doosan three-axis vertical machining centres, each one equipped with a different control system: Fanuc, Heidenhain and Siemens.
The DNM 400 II with Siemens 828D control system offers X-, Y- and Z-axis strokes of 762, 435 and 510mm respectively; while the DNM 650 with Heidenhain iTNC530 offers larger strokes of 1,270, 670 and 625mm. Meanwhile, the DNM 5700 II is a new machine that features a Fanuc 0iF control, a 570mm Y-axis stroke, 20-bar through-tool coolant and a 30-tool ATC.
With regard to Doosan five-axis machining centres, Mills will display the DNM 350 5AX — a compact entry-level 3+2 positional machine — and a VCF850S with iTNC530 Heidenhain control, which is capable of simultaneous machining in five axes; this machine has an X-axis travelling column and fixed bed, along with a Y-axis stroke of 850mm, a ±110deg B axis and an optional 800mm-diameter built-in table.
Doosan horizontal machining centres will be represented by the HP 5100 II, which has twin 500mm pallets and a BT40 spindle. Meanwhile, the Doosan T4000 will represent the company’s range of tapping centres; it has a BT30 12,000/ 24,000rev/min spindle.
New in the company’s range of turn-mill models is the Doosan SMX 2600S, which is equipped with a 10in chuck and has an 81mm bar capacity on both the left- and right-hand spindles. The machine’s Y-axis stroke (300mm) is delivered via orthogonal movement on roller-type guideways.
Accuracy is maintained by six thermal sensors positioned across the machine; moreover, the spindles and X-axis ballscrew nut are cooled by oil. The show machines will be complemented by the large Doosan SMX3100, which has a 12in chuck and a 102mm bar capacity.
