MACH 2016
Kevin Gilbert, managing director of Leamington-based Mills CNC Ltd (
www.millscnc.co.uk) — the exclusive distributor of Doosan machines in the UK and Ireland — said: “When you have the biggest presence at
MACH and exhibit 19 machines, including the largest at the show, you expect to be busy — and we certainly were, selling 18 new Doosan machines over the five days of the show.
Machines that sold particularly well were the VMCs, such as the large-capacity DNM II 650; there was also a noticeable increase in enquiries for Doosan machines fitted with Siemens controls.”
The company approached
MACH in an upbeat mood, having experienced a strong resurgence in sales in the first quarter and with the UK launch of seven new Doosan machines.
These included: the Lynx 2100, a compact high-performance lathe with an 8in chuck (65mm bar capacity); and the DNM 5700, a three-axis vertical machining centre with a 570mm Y-axis stroke.
“Machines that particularly drew the crowds included the new DHF 8000, a five-axis — simultaneous — twin-pallet horizontal machining centre, and the recently launched Puma 4100 and 5100 lathes.
“There was also a lot of interest in automation, one aspect of which was demonstrated by our new ‘plug and play’ Serval Compact Automation Cell incorporating a Puma GT2100M lathe (pictured above). The beauty of this cell is that the guarding readily folds away if manual loading is required.”
