MACH 2016Immediately after the show, Ernst Wagner — managing director of Kasto’s UK subsidiary in Milton Keynes (
www.kasto.com) — said: “The end of 2015 was superb for sales of our sawing and storage systems, but the start of this year was uncharacteristically subdued — until
MACH, when everything changed.
“We were delighted to have secured multiple orders, which is always a bonus, as the priority at trade shows is to plant seeds for future business.
“The number of visitors with authority to purchase was excellent, with interest shown across all Kasto product ranges.
“There was a high demand to see demonstrations of automatic and semi-automatic bandsaws and circular saws for the workshop, high-productivity KastoTec bandsaws designed for cutting tough alloys with a carbide blade, and KastoWin bandsaws that can use either a carbide or bi-metal blade for sawing a wide variety of materials.”
The star of the show was the upstroking KastoWin tube A 5.0 (pictured below), which made its UK debut. This machine can saw pipe and tube efficiently using a carbide blade cutting from the bottom upwards, thereby avoiding the risk of damaging the blade’s teeth, which can easily occur when cutting downwards into the nest of swarf that collects inside the bottom of the tube.
Part of the reason for the speed of this saw is the KastoRespond feature built into its CNC system. This adaptive control automatically records the force on the band and continually varies the feed rate (within milliseconds) to keep the force on the blade at a constant and optimal value and a constant chip load per tooth.
The result is the shortest-possible cycle times and maximised blade life through minimised vibration.
