MACH 2016Giving his feedback on the show, Richard Floyd — managing director of Baldock-based Floyd Automatic Tooling Ltd (
www.floydautomatic.co.uk) — said: “The general perception prior to the show was scepticism and even trepidation, but as soon as the doors opened at 9am on Monday morning we were receiving good-quality enquiries.
The footfall at
MACH was extremely positive from very early on, and we will definitely sell tools from the enquiries received.”
Generating a considerable amount of interest was the Applitec range of ZX turning inserts, which has been developed to deal with the problem of long swarf fragments when machining certain problematic material types — particularly in compact work envelopes.
Whereas traditional X-geometry inserts are not ideal for swarf breaking, the Applitec ZX line incorporates sharp cutting edges that can control swarf particularly well.
Moreover, the innovative tool geometries of ZX inserts are generated by a ‘unique’ laser processing technique. It was the latest ZXB and ZXT laser-generated chip-breakers that caught visitors’ attention with their ability to achieve high levels of surface finish and precision, along with good tool life and chip control.
