MACH 2016Norwich-based Haas Automation Ltd (
www.haas.co.uk) was demonstrating the latest addition to its range of universal machining centres. The UMC-750SS — Super-Speed — offers high performance for quickly machining five-sided (3+2) and simultaneous five-axis parts, a work envelope of 762 x 508 x 508mm, 30.5m/min rapid-traverse rate, and an integrated high-speed dual-axis trunnion table.
The machine is equipped with a 40-taper 15,000rev/min inline direct-drive spindle rated at 30hp (122Nm of torque), a high-speed 40+1 tool side-mount tool changer, and Haas Automation’s high-speed machining software.
Also featured are a high-speed roller-cam trunnion table that provides a rotational speed of 150deg/sec for quick positioning, as well as full simultaneous five-axis motion for contouring and complex machining.
The trunnion provides a tilt range of +110 to -35deg and 360deg of rotation, while the 630 x 500mm table accommodates a maximum weight of 300kg and features standard T-slots — as well as a precision pilot bore — for fixturing.
To simplify job set-up, the UMC-750SS can be specified with Dynamic Work Offsets and Tool Centre Point Control, although it also comes as standard with Haas’s Wireless Intuitive Probing System.
The wide selection of high-productivity options includes a belt-type chip conveyor, high-pressure through-spindle coolant, rigid tapping and expanded program memory.
