MACH 2016The announcement of a new range of “very flexible and cost-efficient” horizontal machining centres from Heckert certainly captured attention on the stand of Birmingham-based Starrag UK Ltd (
www.starrag.com).
The three new Focus machines have been designed specifically for general sub-contract applications and for use by supply-chain partners to OEMs in industries such as automotive.
The machines — the HEC 400F, 500F and 630F — use the same tried and tested construction principles and main components that have proved successful on Heckert’s HEC 400D, 500D and 630D — including thermo-tolerant design principles.
A 32.4kW 18,000rev/min Weiss spindle is fitted to the two smaller machines, while a high-torque10,000rev/min spindle is fitted to the larger model.
