Wrightbus sales to Rosso

Wrightbus sales to RossoRossendale Transport (Rosso) (www.rossobus.com) has taken delivery of six new 10.8m-long StreetLite buses from Ballymena-based Wrightbus (www.wrightsgroup.com/Divisions/Wrightbus) . These single-deck vehicles are set to enter service this month and run on the busy route between Bury and Rochdale. The buses feature a Cummins engine with Voith gearbox, as well Wrightbus’s Micro Hybrid system, which provides additional energy-saving benefits.

The Micro Hybrid system was developed by Wrightbus to capture the energy generated by the bus’s braking system. This is then used to power pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical systems that would otherwise draw additional power from the engine. The result is a reduction in fuel consumption of up to 10%, leading to substantial savings over a bus’s typical 15-year operational life.

Ian Downie, managing director of sales for Wrightbus, said: “Rosso is a long-established customer of Wrightbus, having taken delivery of a range of our vehicles over the years, and we’re pleased that they have now added these first StreetLites to their fleet.”
