Initial orders for Antrim manufacturerA County Antrim manufacturer has won the first orders for its innovative sewage-treatment system in the Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man.

Randalstown-based Aerotank (www.aerotank.co.uk) large septic tanks and targets builders’ merchants, architects and self-build customers.

Over the past four years, it has successfully commercialised this product with support from Invest Northern Ireland. Technical support from Invest NI saw the company produce a prototype, undertake laboratory testing and secure CE Marking for the product. It has also recruited seven new members of staff in sales, technical, production and office management roles.

Aerotank owner James Mullan said: “We recognised the market opportunity to develop a domestic waste-water treatment system that would produce effluent water at an efficiency rating that is not currently available in Northern Ireland. Invest NI support enabled us to develop a prototype and secure the patent and CE marking accreditations we needed to commercialise our innovative system.

“The orders secured in the Republic of Ireland and the Isle of Man to date will help us to leverage additional sales among our target customer base.”

Moira Loughran, Invest NI’s eastern regional manager, said: “Aerotank is a small innovative manufacturing business that has taken full advantage of the technical expertise available at Invest NI to bring its sewage-treatment system to market.

“The company has created skilled employment opportunities in Randalstown and is making a valuable contribution to Northern Ireland’s manufacturing industry.”
