Merseyside-based Hutchinson Engineering produced seven sets of root-and-tip blade frames for the MHI Vestas V164 wind turbine last month.
The 25-tonne frames will be used to stack blades for transportation; they were fabricated at Hutchinson’s Widnes plant, then sent the parts to its new facility at Liverpool’s Garston Dock for shot-blasting and painting before being loaded aboard the MV Ingeborg for transportation to Denmark.
Dean Drinkwater, Hutchinson’s Managing Director, said: “This project is the first of many larger fabrications for our clients. This is now our fourth order from MHI Vestas and largest to date — we can now offer our customers a full service from one of our four production facilities.”
