Mazak apprentice on the starting gridYamazaki Mazak apprentice Jas Cordelle is targeting success in the 2018 drag bike season, which starts in March (www.mazakeu.com).

She will be competing in six junior drag bike championships during the course of the year at the Santa Pod Raceway in Northamptonshire.

The 18-year-old is a third-year mechanical apprentice at Mazak in Worcester, on a BTEC Mechanical Engineering Pathway. She will be racing the drag bike that she built with her father, Brett Cordelle.

It has a 1,200cc Suzuki engine and a top speed of more than 120mph. She was Junior Champion in 2014 and won Best Appearing Bike in 2017.

Jas began her apprenticeship at Mazak in 2015. She currently works in the Spindle Service Centre at the company’s Worcester plant and is due to complete her apprenticeship in July.
