Macclesfield based Bodycote (
www.bodycote.com), a leading heat- treatment specialist, has won a 15-year contract from the aerospace division of Rolls-Royce.
It will provide thermal processing services — including specialised vacuum heat treatment and hot isostatic pressing (HIP) — to Rolls-Royce’s turbine blade casting facilities in Derby and Rotherham.
The £160 million deal will support the growth of Rolls-Royce’s large civil engine programme.
Bodycote’s core business is providing services that protect metals and alloys and improve their properties, extending their operational life and making them safer; it processes vital components for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, defence, automotive, power generation, oil and gas, construction, medical and transportation.
The company has more than 180 accredited facilities in 23 countries; it is the world’s larg-est provider of heat treatment and specialist thermal processing services.
