The opening of a manufacturing facility in East Yorkshire has created more than 60 new jobs in the Hull area.
Thurston Group has opened the facility on a six-acre site in Ottringham, where it will produce bespoke modular accommodation for a variety of sectors, including education, health-care, construction, commercial, housing, rail and defence.
CEO Jonathan Petch said: “This opening takes place against the backdrop of an upturn in the building industry, where modern methods of construction — faster, cost-effective and more flexible — are increasingly being embraced.
“There is now a huge amount of support for modular construction’s ability to address many of the challenges we face in terms of supply and demand for accommodation in both the public and private sectors.”
Managing director Matthew Goff said: “Thurston is delighted to be establishing its latest manufacturing facility and generating employment in Hull.
“Initially, 60 new jobs are being created, and the number will rise over the next 12 months.”
