Cadwell Park track day lives up to expectations

Cadwell Park track day lives up to expectationsThe annual track day at Cadwell Park hosted by Ceratizit WNT (www.wnt.com) and XYZ Machine Tools (www.xyzmachinetools.com) under the guidance of Sam Burman and her fellow motorcycle instructors once again proved to be a hit with the numerous guests who turned up to test their motorcycle handling skills, while also raising several thousand pounds for the British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK.

The event followed the now familiar format, with some guests arriving the previous evening for the traditional track walk and fish-and-chip supper.

At this point, the Lincolnshire circuit’s micro-climate was already playing tricks with riders’ minds, as the temperature dropped significantly while the sun shone brightly just a few miles away.

In spite of this, the instructors gave a number of pointers, highlighting the best lines around the twisting narrow circuit.

The following morning, proceedings were delayed by mist, but once they got under way, the instructors — Sam Burman of WNT Burman Racing, Lee Jackson, who holds the Cadwell Park motorcycle lap record, Kyle Ryde, who is competing in the British Superbike Championship, Phil Wakefield and Bruce Dunn — led the way for a day of action-packed track time.

With a break for lunch, it was time for Northwest 200 Superstock 1000 winner Peter Hickman, who diverted to Cadwell en route to the Isle of Man TT races, to switch to four wheels and provide ‘hot laps’ for a small group of guests in the circuit’s BMW safety car.
