Caterpillar Peterlee (
www.caterpillar.com) is celebrating a significant milestone — the production of its 50,0000th articulated truck.
A handover took place earlier this month between Caterpillar and representatives from Trader Construction Co, who flew over from the USA especially for the event.
The articulated-truck plant in Peterlee, which was originally owned by David Brown, became a wholly owned subsidiary of Cater-pillar in 1996.
The company has gone from strength to strength, with substantial investments in new products.
Its footprint in Peterlee has expanded from one main factory to multiple satellite buildings to support the on-going growth of the business.
