Sarginsons invests six figure sum in technologyCoventry-based Sarginsons Industries (www.sarginsons.com), a leading manufacturer of lightweight castings, has invested another six-figure sum in ‘state of the art’ technology to continue its growth.

The company has spent £125,000 on the purchase of several tools to enhance its process control and measurement processes, including a Faro Quantum 3-D scanner that will improve its metrology capabilities.

Four engineers are now being trained to use the PolyWorks software that supports the scanner.

The firm has also bought a GNR Lab 300 machine that will be used to measure the chemical composition of the aluminium in its products, and it has invested in bar-code technology in order to fulfil a major order from Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) that required additional product traceability.

There has also been an improvement in the company’s tooling maintenance programme through the installation of new shot-blast technology.

Anthony Evans, managing director of Sarginsons, said: “We understand that to work for clients such as JLR and other major manufacturers, we must continue to invest in everything we do.

"The Faro scanner allows us to check our processes in greater detail, and its portability means we can do that at our facility, or we can take it out to the client to carry out checks there.”
