Plastics processor Ensinger GmbH, based in Germany, has taken over the medical-technology manufacturer Moll Engineering GmbH, which is situated in Lübeck.
The latter makes products from carbon fibre-reinforced high-performance plastics, stainless steel and titanium.
The acquisition includes Wenglon GmbH, which makes products on Moll’s behalf in Poland — 70 people work for Moll and Wenglon.
Roland Reber, Ensinger’s managing director (
www.ensingerplastics.com), said: “We are delighted about this new addition, which introduces an attractive technology range into the corporate group.
"The combination of carbon fibre-reinforced plastics and metals is the ideal solution for many medical applications, particularly in orthopaedics and trauma surgery.”
Ensinger already develops plastic compounds for the medical-technology sector, provides stock shapes made from carbon fibre and other materials and produces a variety of machined parts, including trial implants and sterilisable cases and trays.
A subsidiary company is currently developing new technologies for the processing of thermoplastic fibre composites.
Moll Engineering will stay in Lübeck, but it will now have better access to global markets through the Ensinger Group.
