Oxfordshire-based LTi Metaltech — a precision fabrication specialist — has invested in a new ‘state of the art’ Ridder water-jet cutting machine, which has just been installed at its factory near Abingdon.
Complementing its existing capabilities, the new water-jet machine provides crucial extra capacity to serve growth areas of LTi’s business, in addition to its on-going work for long-time client Siemens (it supplies the cryogenic pressure vessels for the latter’s MRI scanners).
With its twin-head cutting capability, a larger cutting area (8 ¥ 4m) and a high-pressure water pump with an increased capacity of 75kW that boosts cutting speeds, the new water-jet cutting machine will allow LTi to significantly ramp up production.
Having for many years achieved great success in the health-care market, LTi has been winning a growing number of contracts in other sectors, including energy, science and nuclear; this latest investment will enable the company to consolidate its presence in these markets.
Edgar Rayner, LTi Metaltech’s technical director (
www.lti-metaltech.com), said: “The next 12 months will be crucial for us, but it’s another year we are really looking forward to, following the great success we had during 2018 in the energy, science and nuclear markets.
"The rigorous requirements of these sectors already plays to our strengths in areas such as audit compliance and quality assurance.
"With this latest investment on board, we will be in an even better position to seize new market opportunities and grow.”
