Tebis celebrates 35th anniversary

Tebis celebrates 35th anniversary The German company Tebis, which has a UK subsidiary in Coventry (www.tebis.com/uk/en), will be celebrating its 35th anniversary at an Open House in Munich next week (8-9 May), where it will present CAD/CAM/MES software and associated services for mechanical component, model, pattern, tool-die and mould manufacturers serving a variety of industries — including aerospace, automotive, motor-sport and oil and gas.

In 1984, Bernhard Rindfleisch — one of the founders of Tebis — wanted to make computer-supported NC technology available to small and medium-size companies.

Soon after, Tebis introduced Version 1.0 of the first MS DOS-based system; and although this was controlled by a graphic input tablet overlaid with a paper “user interface” for calling up functions, it was “the first 3-D CAM system in the world”.

Mr Rindfleisch said: “The Tebis software is the foundation of our success, because it sets global standards for the highest quality and productivity with outstanding functions. We have continuously optimised our software solutions over the years.

“Since Tebis was founded, it has often managed to be at the forefront of technology trends.

“An example of this is Tebis Automill, a technology that supported the NC programming of complete parts across multiple surfaces as early as 1990; also the Tebis NC simulator, the first to enable the realistic simulation of tool-paths with complete collision monitoring of all machine components based on virtual machine models.”

As the years went by, Tebis opened other subsidiaries, including in the UK, Spain, Canada and Portugal — and China in 2012.

Today, the company has some 300 employees around the world and generates revenues of about 38 million euros annually.

Its software is used by nearly every automotive manufacturer around the world, and at more than 1,500 vendor firms.

Those wanting to attend the Open House should contact Tebis via e-mail () or via the Web site (www.tebis.com/uk/en).
