Steel structures for BorsseleTeesside fabricator EEW Offshore Structures Britain (www.eew-group.com) has rolled out the first steel structures for the transition pieces (TPs) for Orsted’s 752MW Borssele 1 and 2 offshore wind farms, to be located 23km off the Dutch coast.

The company said the structure — the first of the 35 TPs that EEW OSB will manufacture — was on its way to the blast shed.

Danish outfit Bladt Industries will supply the other 59 transition pieces for the project. Sif Group and EEW SPC (the parent company of EEW OSB) will each deliver half of the 94 mono-pile foundations. Borssele 1 and 2 will feature 94 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines and is scheduled to come on-line in 2020.
