Ricardo’s production of high-performance engines has passed the 20,000 milestone in the past 10 years — and over 5,000 of those engines were manufactured in 2018 alone.

Ricardo (www.ricardo.com) is well known for its high-quality engineered products, from motor-sports driveline systems to aerospace components, but nowhere are the benefits of the company’s on-going investment in high-performance manufacturing more evident than in engines, which range from compact sub one-litre three-cylinder gasoline engines to 13-litre diesels for distributed power generation.

Engine production broke all previous volume records in 2018, with the trend continuing in 2019.

Ricardo has served over 20 major automotive manufacturers and engine suppliers in recent years, providing everything from prototypes through pre-production units to niche-volume series production of high-performance products.

Of these engine types, the greatest number produced in 2018 were high-performance petrol engines for sports cars and V8 marine diesels.
