Mini Plant Swindon (
www.mini.co.uk) has ordered a new Schuler servo press line to form steel and aluminium body parts for its iconic small car.
The new line (
www.schulergroup.com), with a total press force of more than 10,000 tonnes, is fully compatible with the existing lines in Swindon, ensuring maximum flexibility.
It can deliver up to 18 strokes per/min, and its ServoDirect technology guarantees the best possible quality. There is a blank loader, which feeds the individual sheet metal blanks.
After the subsequent centring, the main forming of the blank takes place in the drawing station — a 2,500-tonne servo press.
In the five subsequent stations, various cutting and forming processes are used to create up to four high-precision parts at the same time, step by step.
