Newcastle upon Tyne-based Houghton International, which provides repair, maintenance and life extension services for a range of electric and mechanical rotating machines, has announced plans to expand its capacity by investing in another 44,000ft² of factory space at its CA Parsons Works in Heaton.

The additional space will be used initially to house its growing pump services maintenance and repair operation and to improve its dynamic testing capabilities (to satisfy an increased demand in this market).

Founded in 1984, Houghton International (www.houghton-international.com) serves customers in a range of industries, including power generation, oil and gas, rail and manufacturing, providing repair, maintenance and ‘life extension’ services to over 200 customers world-wide.

The new building is located adjacent to Houghton International’s large machine repair shop.

Houghton International CEO Michael Mitten said: “As the business continues to grow, we continue to invest in our people and our facilities to ensure that we can service our customers’ needs — both now and in the future.

"We now have 110,000ft² of operational space from which to deliver our range of electro-mechanical support services. Since its launch in February 2018, our enhanced pump services business has exceeded all expectations, and it needs more space.

"Allied to on-going growth in other sectors, which has resulted in a 50% increase in our head-count in the last three years — taking us over 150 — now is the right time to invest in additional capacity.”
