The fibre-optic network at Silverstone Park in Northamptonshire has undergone a £40,000 upgrade to meet the demand for higher broadband speeds.
Cambridge-based Bridge Fibre recently completed a 12-month project to extend its fibre cables across all of Silverstone Park’s development land.
This follows the installation of a multi-utility trench (for natural gas, water, electricity and foul drainage) by the Park’s owner, MEPC (

Bridge Fibre’s head of sales, David Cansick, said: “We can now provide direct connections to virtually every single tenant who wants one.
“When the new Enterprise Zone development is completed, our network will be extended further; businesses will be able to move in and be switched on in under 24hr, if needs be.”
Most of the 80-plus businesses located at Silverstone Park operate in advanced engineering sectors, including aerospace, automotive, defence, electronic sports, medical devices, marine, and electronics and software development.
Mr Cansick added: “Companies are moving to cloud-based systems, so there is more demand for greater bandwidths and speeds.
"They are saving huge files such as CAD drawings or sending them world-wide, so they need ever-increasing bandwidth to do this efficiently.
"What we have at Silverstone Park is more than adequate to meet tenants’ requirements, but we’re always reviewing our infrastructure.”
