GKN Aerospace CTO Russ Dunn officially opened the company’s Additive Industries Process and Application Centre (on the Filton Aerospace Park near Bristol) on 12 March.
The new centre is part of a global network of Additive Industries Competence Centres, each specialising in a different aspect of industrial additive manufacturing; the others are located in Eindhoven, Los Angeles and Singapore (

The new centre’s core competence will be new materials and process development.
The additive-manufacturing hub on the Filton Aerospace Park already includes Airbus and Rolls-Royce.
The renovated Additive Industries building has had many previous aerospace-related uses, including lightning strike tests.
