Clayton secures order for two locomotives Staffordshire-based Clayton Equipment Ltd has won a contract to supply two emission-free Hybrid+ Diesel CBD80 locomotives to Sellafield Ltd in Cumbria, which is a subsidiary of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority.

These 80-tonne vehicles will be self-contained, with on-board battery charging from the diesel engine.

They will enable Sellafield to realise significant benefits from reduced operational and maintenance costs, along with a reduced carbon footprint, reduced noise levels, greater haulage capacity and increased reliability.

Clayton Equipment’s managing director, Clive Hannaford (www.claytonequipment.co.uk), said: “We are very privileged to supply Sellafield Ltd with sustainable low-emission equipment, which meets its commitment to invest in technology that combines cost savings with long-term durability.”
