Lancashire-based What More UK, a leading manufacturer of plastic housewares of all varieties, bakeware, and gardenware, has announced the latest in a series of multi-million pound investments at its Altham manufacturing site.

A new development will provide 26,000ft² of extra distribution space and operate as a link between existing buildings.

The organisation currently has manufacturing, distribution and office space extending over 500,000ft² across two sites at Altham and Shuttleworth Mead.

This announcement comes on the back of record turnover in 2019, and very positive business results since January of this year continuing right through the current coronavirus lockdown, culminating in this month being the best May since the company was established 21 years ago.

Company director Tony Grimshaw said: “The manufacturing sector in Lancashire, and the whole of the UK, is ready, willing and able to supply the country's retailers in June when they are finally allowed to reopen. Britain is ready to get back to business and we are proud to be setting an example."

What More happened invested in ‘state of the art’ bakeware machines in January, which turned out to be perfect timing to support the UK during the coronavirus lockdown.

The firm says that, despite demand, it still has plenty of capacity left to satisfy the UK's retailers and its many distribution partners overseas. What More UK exports its products, many of which are made from recycled single use plastics, to 73 countries world-wide.
