Metalex 2020, the largest machine tools and technology show in the ASEAN region, which is due to be held in Bangkok from 18-21 November, has announced it is going ‘hybrid’.

With the ongoing coronavirus pandemic impacting all of the major international manufacturing shows this year, the organiser Reed Tradex has decided to take a new approach to ensure the show, now in its 34th year, remains as highly successful as previous years.

Sirirat Sungvichai, project director of Reed Tradex (pictured), said: “Over the past months we have been spending time talking with both exhibitors and visitors. Everyone still wants to talk to prospective partners, find new customers or sellers, and discover the latest technologies.

“As a result, we have create digital tools and channels that can help to connect buyers and sellers at any time without having to wait for the exhibition day. In fact, we have prepared a ‘hybrid exhibition” and bolted on extra benefits for our exhibitors.”

Hybrid Metalex 2020 is a combination of physical and virtual events where buyers and sellers will have alternative ways to meet one another and discuss business without any travelling or time limitation.

She added: “We have created an additional suite of digital platforms called ‘On-demand Buyers Connectors’ that can help technology sellers build their identity and branding online and also meet buyers through our business matchmaking service called ‘Digital Sourcing’ which has already proved successful in bringing people together.

“Moreover, we have many campaigns and activities that are gradually being rolled out to educate and enable people in the metalworking industry to connect with each other through mediums such as webinars and road shows.
