Pure Wafer, the computer-microchip recycling business, has reported an increase in turnover and a return to pre-tax profit. The Swansea-based business reported pre-tax profit of £162,473 for the six months to 31 December, compared with a loss of £451,838 for the same period of 2011. Turnover also increased from £12 million in 2011 to £12.4 million.
Chairman Stephen Boyd said the company had “benefitted from an increase in 300mm wafer reclaim sales” and added that “production levels had been boosted at both its Swansea and US factories”. He added: “We are delighted that Pure Wafer has returned to profitability during this period of trading, benefitting from the continued growth of the semiconductor industry.”
He added that the semiconductor industry “continues to show positive signs for 2013” and said it is “well positioned to take advantage of this sustained growth”.
