West Bromwich-based Deritend Group, a leading engineering solutions provider, has been announced as a preferred supplier to global outsourcing specialist IESA in a deal that could be worth up to £1 million per year.

The company, which recently completed a major relocation project to larger facilities has successfully passed the quality assurance assessment required to be listed in the motor and gearbox category.

This means the firm will now be part of IESA’s central list of suppliers that companies including Astra Zeneca, Bentley, 2 Sisters Food Group, Michelin and Molson Coors use for their maintenance, repair and operational (MRO) requirements.

The deal is the result of a year-long discussion, a number of assessments and the creation of a specialist team to respond to enquiries within 24hr and provide immediate technical support and access to industry-leading equipment and solutions.

Deritend Group CEO Richard Hale said: “This is a big moment for our business and one that will hopefully lead to lots of new opportunities for us across multiple sectors.

“It is a really good fit as IESA is looking to offer more than just products and wants suppliers that can deliver solutions, something we are experts in. Our experience in motors, gearboxes and pumps is second-to-none and we have a team of engineers ready to meet emergency repair requirements and provide advice on getting the most out of these vital pieces of equipment.”

Deritend 1He continued: “We estimate that it will be worth £1 million in our first year and comes on the back of a very busy period for us, with the relocation of our Midlands operation to West Bromwich underway and a number of new framework contracts secured.”

Leading UK provider

Deritend is firmly established as one of the UK’s leading providers of engineering solutions, including the repair or replacement of electric motors pumps, gearboxes, electronic controls and induction equipment.

The company stocks industry-leading brands, including David Brown, Radicon, Siemens, TEC and WEG and also provides services ranging from condition monitoring and asset management to machine shop and fabrication.

Neil Jackson, IESA supplier relationship manager, said: “Our customers span a wide variety of industries and we need suppliers who have experience in all of these areas.

“Deritend meets this requirement and, importantly, can help us add value to our clients by providing technical advice that could overcome a production issue, achieve greater efficiencies and save costs. It also has superb logistical coverage through its centres of excellence in the Midlands, the North and the South.”

Deritend 2Acquired by Mr Hale and his management team in 2001, Deritend plays a crucial role in ensuring the public receive clean water supplies in their homes, production lines meet just-in-time requirements and society has a regular supply of food.

A fully equipped fabrication operation in Middlesbrough, and a skilled team of engineers located strategically across the UK, continue to support customers ranging from Severn Trent/Thames Water and JCB to British Steel and Mondelez International, which owns Cadbury.

The ongoing relocation to West Bromwich takes its annual investment to over £1 million, with new equipment installed and an upskilling programme implemented for the majority of its 120-strong workforce.
