Mettis Aerospace has been awarded AS9100 accreditation for its assembly operations in advance of the official opening of its new UK factory, called MACH 1, built in response to a multi-million-pound contract from a leading aircraft manufacturer.
This latest award, covering the assembly of critical components for aircraft, provides an extension to its long-standing AS9100 accreditation which recognises robust quality management systems in aerospace.
MACH 1, which is part of the company’s vertically integrated, on-site operations, offers advanced levels of machining automation and innovative, ‘no-faults-forward’ assembly technology for forged components.
It houses six, new ‘state of the art’ machines integrated with Fastems systems which have been delivered in partnership with
Heller Machine Tools and
Seco Tools.
Mettis has been providing assembly services for a number of years, in addition to design, tooling, forging, machining and test, and this extension to its AS9100 accreditation recognises the company’s excellence in this rapidly expanding area of its business.
Robin Jones, technical services director, said: “We are proud of how the whole team has come together to enable Mettis to receive this latest accreditation following a robust audit. We look forward to growing this area of our business further and delivering assembled components direct to more customers’ assembly lines worldwide.”
