XYZ Machine Tools’ sales team continues to grow To capitalise on the positive sentiment among its manufacturing customer base, XYZ Machine Tools has expanded its sales team with the appointment of Patrick O’Connor, Richard Bailey and Tom Marshallsay as area sales managers.

The trio join Devon-based XYZ Machine Tools at the right moment as sales continue to show strong growth as the UK recovers from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. All three have extensive experience within manufacturing and will bring individual qualities to the existing team.

Patrick O’Connor has extensive experience in a programming/applications environment working on turnkey and best practice solutions for a leading manufacturer of market-leading workholding and tooling.

He said: “After working for a large multi-national company, the decision to join XYZ Machine Tools was an easy one to make thanks to its family-like atmosphere and extensive product range and its diverse customer base also appealed to me.”

Meanwhile, Richard Bailey has worked in an applications/technical support role in the machine tool industry for many years and saw this opportunity as an ideal career move into capital equipment sales.

He added: “Like Patrick, what drew me to XYZ Machine Tools was the combination of quality products and the mix of customers from owner operators through leading sub-contract manufacturers to blue-chip companies.”

Finally, Tom Marshallsay joins the company straight from the world of Formula One component manufacture, where he was programming/setting/operating five-axis machining centres on high-end projects. He said: “This is a great opportunity for me to make that step from being a user of machine tools to selling them and the XYZ product range is a perfect fit for me given my background and experience.”

Once they have completed their training at the Burlescombe headquarters of XYZ Machine Tools the trio will be responsible for their own areas, with Mr O'Connor covering Sheffield, Derby and Leicester postcode areas, Mr Bailey working across Coventry, Milton Keynes, Oxford, Reading and Hemel Hempstead, and Mr Marxhallsay covering the south-east (excluding London) from Slough across to Kent.
