XYZ welcomes back Mike Corbett as production/technical manager After two years away from XYZ Machine Tools, former applications manager, Mike Corbett is returning to the Devon-based machine tool company where he will take on the role of production/technical manager effective from 1 September.

The position became vacant following the decision by Mark Chappell, who has held the role since 2018, to return to live and work in Dubai. Nigel Atherton, XYZ Machine Tools managing director, said: “Mark’s decision posed a few challenges as finding good people with the relevant experience, in a relatively short timescale is exceedingly challenging.

“Fortunately, the move coincided with a chat with Mike and his 22 years’ experience of our products and systems provided the perfect fit.”

He will oversee the build of machines prior to delivery, work with XYZ Machine Tools’ partners to ensure technical specifications are adhered to, and will also be tasked with further developing the quality and performance of the full range of XYZ machines.

Mr Corbett added: “After 22 years working at XYZ Machine Tools in an applications capacity I felt I needed a change, but like many over the past 18 months my priorities changed. Therefore, when the opportunity to return to XYZ, especially in this new position, it was a simple and straightforward decision to make.”
