Howden, a leading global provider of ‘mission critical’ air- and gas-handling products, has supplied three hydrogen compressors, to Hypower, for use in the world’s largest hydrogen refuelling station (HRS) — the Beijing Daxing HRS in China.
The Daxing HRS has the capacity to produce 4.8 tonnes per day of hydrogen and refuel up to 600 hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, including large vehicles such as trucks and buses. The Daxing HRS is part of the 200,000m
2 Beijing International Hydrogen Energy Demonstration Zone.
Salah Mahdy, Howden’s global director (environmental hydrogen), said: “The Howden team is proud to be part of a project that supports the world’s largest hydrogen refuelling station. The project demonstrates Howden’s strengths in quality, reliability, reputation for excellence in customer service and our leadership in the hydrogen compression market.
“We bring our hydrogen compression expertise of over 100 years to this growing sustainable fuel market and are pleased to support production of carbon-neutral fuels from renewable energy.”
The Howden team in China responded to a short lead-time requirement and worked closely with Hypower to provide the solution necessary to keep this important HRS running. Howden has a long history and strong presence in the country, with over 1,000 employees operating in offices and service centres in seven cities and a large manufacturing centre that serves customers throughout China.
Headquartered in Renfrew, Scotland, Howden has over 160 years’ heritage as a ‘world-class application engineering and manufacturing company’ with a presence in 34 countries.
The company manufactures ‘highly engineered’ fans, compressors, heat exchangers, steam turbines, and other air- and gas-handling equipment, and provides service and support to customers around the world in highly diversified end-markets and geographies.
