Double MACH debut for Matsuura 5-axis machining centres

Double MACH debut for Matsuura 5-axis machining centresAs ‘pioneers of automated five-axis CNC machining’, Matsuura Machinery Ltd is debuting the latest MAM72-52V and MX-420 PC10 at MACH 2022 (Hall 20, Stand 442), taking place this week (4-8 April) at the NEC, Birmingham.

Designed from the ground up and based on 30-plus years of multi-pallet automation experience, the Matsuura MAM72-52V is a “factory in one machine” that enables variable-part/variable-volume production and extended unmanned operation.

The machine — equipped with 130 tools on a 330-tool magazine base, proven tower pallet system (PC15) for extended lights out manufacturing, and chip removal system as standard — bridges the gap between the MAM72-35V and the MAM72-70V.

It is suitable for a wide variety of work in many industries, machining the full spectrum of materials, from exotics and titanium to aluminium and cast iron to hard-to-cut ‘machining challenges’.

Following the ‘global success’ of the MX-330 PC10, and responding to customer demand, Matsuura has developed its big brother — the fully automated five-axis MX-420 PC10, which offers a larger capacity and workload.

Matsuura newMeanwhile, from the Muratec portfolio, Matsuura will be exhibiting an MT-series fully automated lathe, with features including twin spindles, multi-tasking functions, an ‘intelligent’ gantry unloader, and the ability to process billets or bar.

Matsuura says MT-series machines are ‘a firm favourite with the company’s UK customers’.

Now firmly established in 3-D printing, Matsuura will be demonstrating the Desktop Metal Studio System 2, a desktop 3-D printer for producing complex, high-performance custom metal parts in a variety of materials.

Also on show from Desktop Metal is the ‘Fiber’, a composite 3-D printing machine with application potential in aerospace and motorsport.

Roger Howkins, Matsuura Machinery’s managing director, said: “With a buoyant and busy UK manufacturing sector, MACH 2022 is set to be a great show for Matsuura, our wider industry and our growing UK customer base.

“We have selected machines to exhibit that continue to lead the field in reliable CNC automation and deliver a great return for our customers — and deliver new possibilities into their CNC businesses with our 3-D printing products.”
