Birmingham-based
Starrag UK Ltd will showcase the company’s latest machines, including Bumotec’s new cost-effective seven-axis 191neo mill-turn centre for small, complex parts at
MACH 2022 (Hall 20, Stand 563), which is taking place from 4-8 April at the NEC, Birmingham.
Targeted particularly at users in the medical, luxury goods and micro-mechanics industries, it can accommodate bar of 42, 50 or 65mm in diameter; and with up to 90 tools and an intuitive HMI control system, the machine will enable users to ‘achieve a new standard in unrivalled cost-per-parts for high added-value small components produced in a single set-up’.
Visitors will also learn how Starrag’s ‘Engineering precisely what you value’ mantra continues to help companies of every size achieve significant bottom-line rewards when using machines from the company’s Berthiez, Bumotec, Dörries, Droop+Rein, Ecospeed, Heckert, Scharmann, SIP and Starrag ranges.
A recent example of how Starrag’s success has been built on providing machining solutions for specific market demands is the Heckert H65 horizontal machining centre, which was launched last year and is suitable for a wide range of applications.

The company says: “This machine adds a new dimension to heavy-duty four-axis machining with an unprecedented specification and unrivalled performance for a machine of its class; and while it occupies just 24m
2, the H65 offers machining speeds up to 30% faster than comparable models and can increase output levels by up to 80%.”
With a work envelope of 850 x 1,020 x 1,000mm and 630 x 500mm twin pallets (each able to accommodate loads of 1.5 tonnes and achieve a pallet-change time of 13sec), this latest addition to Heckert’s H range of ‘cost-competitive’ machining centres provides traverse rates up to 80m/min and a standard spindle speed of up to 10,000rev/min from its 60kW/450 Nm hollow-shaft HSK-A100 spindle.
Visitors to Starrag’s
MACH stand will also learn how an Ecospeed machining centre is the latest in a line of machines now featured in Starrag’s new Aerospace Competence Centre in Switzerland.
With traverse rates of 50m/min, the machining centre can achieve aluminium removal rates of up to 12 litres/min. This new centre has been enhanced to show a selection of machines and their capabilities, as well as the accompanying technologies required for machining a wide variety of aerospace/aircraft workpieces.
Lee Scott, Starrag UK’s director for sales and applications, said: “Aerospace, medical and luxury goods are, of course, core industries for Starrag, but so too are energy, transport and industrial components. Visitors to
MACH from all these sectors may well be surprised at how affordable and available many Starrag machines are.”
