New camera recognition system takes ‘laser engravers to the next level’Trotec Laser, which has six laser showrooms in the UK and Ireland, has upgraded its ‘flagship’ laser engravers and cutting machines with a new ‘lid camera’ designed to save even more time when processing materials.

The Speedy 360 laser engraving machine is the latest in Trotec’s Speedy series of engravers to get the new ‘Vision Design and Position’ camera system; this is based on a 12-megapixel patent-pending camera that speeds up workflow by providing a full-colour live image of the laser work area to the operating PC’s Ruby software.

The detailed image of the laser bed and workpiece allows the laser operator to position the ‘artwork file’ exactly where they would like it to be cut or engraved, and to see a visual representation of how it will look before the job is started, thereby negating the need for manual positioning of the laser pointer and saving graphic position data to the software, making setting laser jobs faster and easier than previously.

The Vision Design and Position camera is the latest feature to be added to the Ruby software, which incorporates all design and preparation stages of the laser engraving and cutting process to significantly reduce ‘workflow time and cost. Trotec says the software is under continuous development, and that more time-saving features are being planned for future releases.

Furthermore, Trotec’s Speedy 360 ‘Run on Ruby’ laser system features touch-screen operation; and thanks to the Ruby software it is possible to operate the laser in a network via Ethernet or Wi-Fi without an extra PC.

All Trotec Speedy laser engravers are available with a range of accessories, as well as a choice of CO2, fibre and ‘flexx’ laser sources.
