Elio Lupica, COO of Mikron Switzerland AG, Division Tool, inaugurated the new production facility in the presence of the local authorities and representatives of the umbrella organisations AITI and Swissmem. The investments made signify further growth of the Agno production site and gives Mikron Tool the option to further increase its production capacity in the future.
During construction, Mikron Tool took the opportunity to replace the facility’s old oil heating system with a ‘state of the art’ mixing plant for heat recovery from production. The company ceased using fossil fuels in December 2021. An outdated refrigeration system was also completely replaced. Thanks to this upgrade, 350,000kWh of electricity will be saved annually which is in line with Mikron Tool's commitment to environmentally friendly resource consumption.
The expansion of production capacity will also provide advantages to customers who will benefit from shorter delivery times.
