Voortman acquires pipe processing machine manufacturer

Voortman acquires pipe processing machine manufacturer Voortman Steel Machinery in the Netherlands, a leading manufacturer of CNC steel processing machines, has acquired Müller Opladen GmbH, a German manufacturer of pipe processing machines. Effective 1 January 2023, this acquisition has expanded Voortman's product portfolio, adding profile cutting machines for steel pipes, pressure vessels, and structural steel.

Voortman is a high-end manufacturer of steel processing machinery and innovative software solutions for over 50 years. What started with the production of beam processing machines, followed by plate processing machines, now includes pipe processing machines. Voortman is focused on building and creating products that provide solutions for various steel processing industries and automation, quality, and providing excellent customer service.

With a century-long market presence, Müller Opladen GmbH is a global leader in 3-D pipe cutting machines for the small, middle and large range of profiles. It has a global distribution network, with customers in around 70 countries and has approximately 1,000 machines installed worldwide. Its commitment to innovation and superior quality has garnered the trust of customers in a variety of industrial sectors.

Following the acquisition, Voortman aims to provide increased value in growing markets such as offshore and energy, and process equipment. Mark Voortman, CEO of Voortman Steel Machinery, said: “The integration of Müller Opladen is an important step forward in meeting the needs of our current and potential customers and offering a complete product portfolio for profile, plate and pipe processing.”

Müller Opladen GmbH will continue to operate in Germany. As a result of the acquisition, Voortman Steel Machinery and Müller Opladen GmbH will reinforce each other’s markets, increasing the benefits available to customers.
