Managing director Chris Weston welcomes invited guests at Guhring Ltd’s recent 50th anniversary celebrations at its facility in Birmingham

Midlands-based Guhring hit two milestones in 2023, the 125th anniversary of the parent company in Germany and the 50th-year anniversary of its UK subsidiary, Guhring Ltd, in Birmingham. To mark the occasion, Guhring Ltd is paying tribute to Prime Accountants Group, which has been a long-term supporter and advisor to the German-based tooling firm since its establishment in the UK in 1973.

During that time, Guhring has consolidated its British footprint to a new, 60,000ft² purpose-built factory in Aston, Birmingham, where it has resided since 2017. Furthermore, there are now no fewer than 47 subsidiaries open around the world. Guhring’s Birmingham team use the accountancy services of Prime Accountants Group, also based in the Midlands, for several key functions, including its year-end audit and reporting its financial results back to its Germany headquarters.

Chris Weston, managing director of Guhring’s subsidiary in Birmingham, said: “This year has provided two significant milestones to celebrate at Guhring and we have done just that. Both the company’s 125th anniversary and our Birmingham subsidiary reaching 50 years is reason to be thankful for all those who have helped Guhring reach this point. I joined the firm 24 years ago and have worked my way through the ranks before being appointed managing director six years ago. In that time, I have worked very closely with the team at Prime Accountants and they have never blinked twice when called upon to support us for any financial services we require.

“The quarterly and yearly reporting packs created by Prime is a huge weight lifted from our shoulders, knowing we can trust such a long-established supplier to generate exactly what is required. Further to its accountancy reporting and audit services, Guhring has used the expertise of Prime’s R&D team in order to apply for and earn some significant business grants before Covid-19 hit in 2020. Luckily, Guhring managed to mitigate the effects of the pandemic and continue its trading operation as its facility in Birmingham had enough space to enable social distancing between its employees.
