RBW opens new multi-million-pound factory in Lichfield Electric vehicle and systems manufacturer RBW has officially opened its new UK factory in Litchfield following multi-million-pound investment from California. Since its foundation seven years ago, RBW continues to pioneer the safe electrification of vehicles and this investment will enable the company to scale-up to meet global demand.

Meson Capital Partners’ £10 million investment follows an original £5 million and a further £300,000 in UK grants raised for tooling and manufacturing. The new 28,0002ft facility has led to the creation of 118 new jobs which includes apprenticeship partnerships with local colleges and universities. The vehicles produced at the site will predominantly be exported globally to RBW-approved distributors. The company will launch in the USA in 2024.

RBW has two sides to its business — the patented modular system, which can be licensed to other vehicle manufacturers and the production of the RBW Roadster. This brand new electric British classic car, the company’s first model, has achieved Passenger Car M1 Approval and Regulation 100.

With plans to release more models and the licensing of the modular system, RBW’s portfolio is expanding rapidly. By the end of 2024 the factory is set to produce 10 new vehicles and supply 20 of its modular systems each month.

RBW founde Peter Swain said: “Our modular system can be fitted into both new vehicles and upcycled vehicles, giving our system an incredibly low carbon footprint. It has always been my dream to build RBW’s factory in the Midlands, so my family can share its success with our community.”
