Hurco to focus on one-offs and small batch productionHigh Wycombe-based Hurco Europe Ltd will be showcasing the very latest software developments available on the Max5 control at this week’s Southern Manufacturing & Electronics 2024 which kicks off tomorrow for three days (6-8 February) at the Farnborough International Exhibition Centre (Stand G200). The 19in colour touch-screen control has always been very popular, because of the ease with which a first-off part can be programmed. Simple conversational prompts guide the user through the stages of the programme and on-line help can be accessed live at the control.

Hurco will be putting its versatile Hurco VM10i machining centre in the spotlight which has a working volume of 660 x 406 x 508mm. Fitting into a very compact space, visitors will be impressed by the ability of this machine to offer true machining centre performance. Steel cutting demonstrations will also take place throughout the duration of the show. Meanwhile, the latest developments in Hurco’s unique Solid Model Import option will be available for demonstration on the Max5 control, which allows conversational programmes to be created direct from a .stp file.

Alongside the hurco VM10i will be a Hurco TM8Mi three-axis slant-bed CNC lathe with driven tools. The machine turns parts up to 256mm in diameter x 497mm long, and is well suited to bar work up to 64.5mm diameter. The VDI 30 turret with 12 driven tool stations allow simple milling operations and off-centre drilling to be performed on the turned component. The performance of this compact, accurate turning machine is complemented by the Max5 control. Simple, easy-to-follow graphics guide the user through all operations and tooling selection.

The new XP model enhancements mean that concurrent programming, improved graphics and roller guideways are now standard features. The lathe comes with an 8in hydraulic three-jaw chuck, parts catcher and swarf conveyor as standard.
