New Star sliding head lathe purchased at MACH 2024Northamptonshire-based Bon Precision Engineering, an award-winning manufacturer of precision-engineered components including dowel pins, clevis pins, and threaded inserts, has taken delivery of a Star SB-20R CNC sliding head lathe to increase capacity and accommodate a growing order book.

The company moved into larger premises in Kettering in 2023 and the SB-20R CNC Machine, bought off the Star Micronics GB Ltd stand at MACH 2024 last month represents a significant advancement in the company’s manufacturing capabilities, adding to a mix of Star and Citizen sliding head lathes already in place.

Bon Precision engineering serves customers in a variety of industrial sectors including marine, solar power and energy, leisure, rail, audio visual and automotive.

John Garner, Bon Precision Engineering director, said: “We are thrilled to integrate our new SB-20R Star CNC Machine into our operations. This investment cements our dedication to staying at the forefront of technological advancements in the industry. With increased capacity, we are poised to deliver even greater value to our customers, while strengthening our competitive edge in the market.”

With advanced features that streamline manufacturing processes, reduce set-up times, and increase production efficiency, the new machine represents a valuable asset for Bon Precision Engineering, enabling the company to tackle a wider range of complex components up to 20mm diameter.

James Hunter, Midlands area sales manager at Star Micronics, concluded: “We are pleased to support Bon Precision Engineering with the acquisition of another Star CNC machine. The SB-20R is engineered to deliver performance and reliability, and we are confident that this investment will fuel Bon Precision Engineering's growth and success in the years to come.”
