GKN Redditch-based GKN Driveline has extended a manufacturing facility in Shanghai. The 118,000ft
2 extension will produce high-accuracy components for engines, with an annual capacity of 11 million precision parts.
The expansion at Shanghai GKN Driveshaft Co will help to support increasing orders from vehicle manufacturers, the company said.
Andy Reynolds Smith, chief executive of GKN Automotive, added: “Vehicle manufacturers are continuing to expand across China, which is the world’s largest vehicle market.
“The Wuhan plant is located close to customers in the centre of China. It will ensure that we are ideally positioned to support the growth in the Chinese market, with products produced locally — coupled with a high level of customer service — to further strengthen our customer support.”
