Yamazaki Mazak UK Ltd has announced its annual December Open House, which will take place from 3 to 5 December. This year’s event, themed ‘Team Mazak’, will spotlight one of the company’s core values of close relationships with customers, emphasising how collaboration can drive enhanced productivity and profitability.
The three-day event will focus on the synergy between machine users and builders, showcasing how a relationship built on trust can deliver the winning combination of precision, speed, and quality. Visitors will have the opportunity to witness first-hand the advantages of teamwork and see how Mazak’s commitment to supporting customers at every stage of their journey – from pre-sales, installation, training and after-sales support – leads to superior outcomes.
The Open House will feature over 20 machines – all live-cutting – and four automation systems, along with demonstrations of the latest software solutions. These include Mazatrol DX and the Mazak iCONNECT service, which drive improved productivity through faster quote to machining time, continual remote monitoring, easy maintenance and fast support.
Customers are even promised a sneak peek at the newly=developed laser machining area to showcase how automation has improved productivity in Mazak’s own working factory. Another star feature of the Open House will be the new HQR-200/3 NEO that made world debuts at
IMTS in Chicago and at
AMB in Stuttgart last month.
This turning centre is equipped with three turrets and two spindles and is designed to deliver increased productivity with environmental performance. The additional third turret is capable of reducing cycle times by approximately 25%, based on an example component produced with a two-turret configuration.
High productivityThe HQR is one of four NEO machines on display, including the HCN-5000 NEO horizontal machining centre, the Variaxis i-700 NEO five-axis multi-tasking machine and the Optiplex 3015 NEO laser processing machine exhibited with an automation system – all offering high productivity combined with outstanding environmental performance.
At he heart of ‘Team Mazak’ will be the UK-designed and built machines, which are all available with short lead times. The phenomenally successful entry-level five-axis machining centre the CV5-500 and the new VCN-600 high-performance vertical machining centre will both be equipped with an MA robot with a versatile stocker unit for low-medium batches. More automation will be showcased with an Integrex i-200H S teamed with an Ez Loader 30 collaborative robot (cobot) operated by Mazatrol CNC.
Also on display will be two high-performance VCN-700 vertical machining centres, including one equipped with a 60,000rev/min Ultraspindle for super-fast finishing, as well as three turning centres including the Quick Turn 350MSY and the QTE-300MSY, both high-productivity machines equipped with a milling spindle, second spindle and Y axis. The third turning centre, the QT-250MSY, will be exhibited with a gantry loader to further showcase fast loading and unloading for high-volume manufacturers.
Two specialist hybrid machines complete the line-up, including the FSW-460V friction stir welding machine that combines conventional metal subtraction with welding capability in the same machining envelope. Showing for the first time in the UK will be the Integrex i-350H ST AG for customers requiring specialist gear machining tasks including gear skiving, hobbing and milling.
Alan Mucklow, managing director UK, Eire and National Distributors at Yamazaki Mazak, says machine users should use the Open House to benchmark their machining operations against the latest manufacturing technology. “With many customers already planning for 2025, UK manufacturers cannot afford to stand still in today’s highly competitive markets and need to be part of a team to drive productivity, profitability and environmental performance. This Open House is a showcase for teamwork, best-in-class technology and decades of applications experience, as well as outstanding service and support that together can deliver real competitive advantage.”
In addition to the machines on display, regular factory tours led by Mazak apprentices will take place throughout the event. Finance partners will also be in attendance with a range of different financing options available to make machine purchases quick and easy. Furthermore, the famous breakfast butties and specialist lunches will also be on offer.
Jason Butler, sales director at Yamazaki Mazak UK, said: “This event is an open invitation to machine users to find the solution to their manufacturing challenges by joining Team Mazak. Many of the machines on show are UK-built and are available with exceptionally short lead times. Our own productivity improvements have enabled us to build stocks of three key machine ranges – the CV5-500, QT turning centres and our best-selling VTC range of models – which means that visitors can see the machines, sort out the finance and walk away with new technology in a single visit.”
