Headquartered in Canada, and present in more than 85 countries,
Creaform) — a provider of automated and portable 3-D measurement solutions — has added the PRO Series to its HandySCAN 3D range of 3-D scanners. A fully integrated hardware and software solution, this new series ‘combines fast and high-resolution data acquisition capabilities through its scanner with the power of the Scan-to-CAD Pro software module to provide short time from data acquisition to 3-D models, thereby optimising reverse engineering and product development workflows’.
It was over two decades ago that Creaform pioneered handheld, self-positioning 3-D laser scanning with the HandySCAN 3D for measuring accuracy, versatility, and efficiency across many industries. The company now continues this legacy with the HandySCAN 3D|PRO Series, which offers a more powerful, accessible, and reliable solution to measure complex shapes fast, thereby greatly reducing time-to-market, and lowering development costs for SMEs.
Features of the HandySCAN 3D|PRO Series, bundled with Scan-to-CAD Pro, include: 23 blue laser lines for detailed, high quality scans, and the ability to handle complex shapes and difficult surfaces with a proven accuracy of 0.030mm, for rapid 3-D data acquisition; a rapid return on investment due to its versatility and time-saving features; and the intuitive Scan-to-CAD Pro software module, which is optimised for 3-D scan data and ideal for reverse engineering and product development thanks to a short time from scans to CAD.
Creaform adds that this integrated solution is not only designed to enhance user experience, allowing individuals to ‘operate it effortlessly’ through its intuitive multi-function LCD touchscreen and haptic feedback via vibration but also enable a significant reduction in iterations within the product design and development cycle for increased efficiency. This efficiency decreases product development time, accelerates time-to-market, and empowers quicker revenue generation; and because this system can measure and analyse ‘any component’, it can be used to design new parts, adapt or maintain old parts — and create 3-D models.
Also new from Creaform and complementing the HandySCAN 3D|PRO Series is the company’s Integrity Suite, a software platform designed to ‘transform non-destructive testing (NDT) processes across industries like oil and gas, power generation, aerospace, transportation — and more.
Creaform said: “This new surface-damage assessment solution introduces a modernised, intuitive interface that brings unprecedented customisation, speed, and clarity to corrosion or mechanical damage inspection processes, providing asset owners with the highest possible confidence in results for decision making.”
The Integrity Suite includes specialised modules tailored to key sectors. These include: the Pipeline Module for accurate results and in-depth on-site wrinkle, corrosion, strain-based analyses and more; the Aircraft Module, dedicated 3-D visualisation software designed specifically for aircraft surface 3-D assessment and dent damage characterisation; the Pressure Equipment Module for measuring thickness loss on curved and complex geometries; and the Analysis Toolkit, which combines inspection and reverse engineering features to streamline day-to-day maintenance operations.
